Rice terraces are a characteristic feature of the ethnic people living in Vietnam’s northern mountainous regions. Due to its high altitude, the mountainous areas are challenging to have flat land to cultivate, especially wet rice cultivation. Therefore, people have chosen hillsides with fertile soil, creating ground and gradually becoming small, beautiful fields.
