An initiative by Handspan in conjunction with Keep Hanoi Clean and supported by Authentic Cool Venues in Town

The aim of this community-driven initiative consists on raising awareness of plastic hazards and reducing the massive disposable water bottle waste in Hanoi by offering an alternative to our visitors and residents: reusable water bottles.

This local campaign is being possible thanks to  the support of different  restaurants, cafés and art galleries that have joined forces to carry out this initiative against plastic pollution, working together towards a greener Hanoi
for the benefit of our community, proving that there are entities within the private sector that DO really care for our city.

Handspan's board of directors also decided to acquire a massive amount of reusable and durable stainless steel water bottles to be sold at their cost price to concerned locals and travellers, because we believe that global issues can only be tackled LOCALLYin other words, "that many small people in many small places doing many small things can alter the face of the world".

In 2018 our city welcomed around 24 million international and domestic visitors; each one was staying for a minimum of two days and consuming an average of 2 litres of water per day. With the current facilities, that is translated into millions of half-litre plastic bottles used and thrown away in our city every year.  At Handspan we have always been highly concerned with the impacts of our activities, that's why also in this case we wanted to take on our respective responsibility and look for the support of other like-minded local businesses that would like to join us in this attempt to change the plastic consumption behavior in our city. In a nutshell, this is our attempt to REACT and DO something about this worrisome matter.

Apart from motivating our travellers to acquire a reusable and durable water bottle (Refill Hanoi bottles are also a very nice souvenir to be brought and used back home!), we are also encouraging our f&b, accommodation and transport partners to replace single-use plastic bottles by other more environmentally-friendly and much less costly ways of supplying water. We are glad to say that we are gradually getting more and more adepts.

Please get your reusable bottle and…

Let’s locally reduce the massive amount of plastic waste produced globally every day! |  Hãy cùng nhau giảm thiểu lượng chai nhựa khổng lồ mà bị thải ra trên trái đất mỗi ngày!
