Sailing and soaking the atmosphere of the Lake

Day 1 Sailing and soaking the atmosphere of the Lake

Meals: not included | Accommodation: Mount Inle Hotel, Superior room (Nyaung Shwe)

We will leave at 8.30AM from the hotel for a boat ride around the tranquil villages on stilts and floating gardens. At some poin we will run into some real Intha fishermen with their unique one-legged rowing fishing methods.
We will visit the Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the lake's main sanctuary which houses 5 sacred Buddha images and then we will keep on enjoying such a peaceful and surreal atmosphere, sailing slowly across the lake, surrounded by beautiful lush green floating gardens.

We will head to some traditional handicrafts workshops: cheroot making factory, blacksmith, silk weaving from lotus stems and visit one of the oldest monasteries on the lake with dozens of ancient Buddha statues, the Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery. We will return to our hotel by boat around 17.30PM.

Indein & other villages (half-day)

Day 2 Indein & other villages (half-day)

Meals: breakfast | Accommodation: Mount Inle Hotel, Superior room (Nyaung Shwe)

We will depart around 8:00 to Indein and its enchanting 17th century pagodas. To reach Indein we will enjoy a boat ride up a small scenic creek that runs into Inle Lake, passing different villages. A few pagodas in Indein have been restored but most of them still lie in an abandoned “India Jones” type setting.

After lunch (not included) we will sail till Ywama Village to see Shan traditional paper making and silversmith craftsmen at work and afterwards, we will head to Laeshae Village to see how they make Buddha images from dried flowers among other things. We will be back in our hotel in the afternoon, spending the rest of the day at leisure.

Cycling to the Vineyards of Red Mountain

Day 3 Cycling to the Vineyards of Red Mountain

Meals: breakfast | Accommodation: Mount Inle Hotel, Superior room (Nyaung Shwe)

We will leave at 08.00AM or 01.00PM from our hotel (for those riding in the morning, a lively market can visited.  For afternoon riders, a visit to one of the many tomato warehouses will take place instead).

We will ride to the outskirts of Nyaung Shwe, where concrete buildings give way to bamboo fields.  The streets also become shadier, with many farms by the roads.  We will have many opportunities to take some photos and visit some villages along the way.

A short uphill ride is the final leg before reaching Red Moutain Estate, a collaboration between local Pa-Oh and a French vintner.  We will have a tour around before settling down at the hilltop restaurant for a tasting with some panoramic views. Afterwards, cycle back to Nyaung Shwe where the tour ends around 12.00PM or 17.00PM.
Cycling route: between 7 – 10 kilometers on flat, tarred roads.
