Day 1 Pakse arrival - Wat Phou temple

Upon your arrival in Pakse, you will be greeted by our friendly guide who will escort you to your hotel. After a brief rest, we will embark on an exciting journey to Wat Phou temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the ancient Khmer temple complex, known for its stunning architecture and cultural significance. Immerse yourself in the rich history and spirituality of this sacred place. In the evening, return to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

 

 

Day 2 The Bolaven Plateau

Meal: breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: in Pakse

Today, we will venture into the picturesque Bolaven Plateau, known for its lush coffee and tea plantations, scenic waterfalls, and traditional ethnic villages. Discover the breathtaking Tad Fane waterfall, marvel at the beauty of Tad Yuang waterfall, and indulge in the panoramic views from the Tad Lo waterfall. Explore the local villages, interact with the friendly locals, and learn about their unique way of life. In the evening, return to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

 

Day 3 Elephant trail trek - Don Khong island

Meal: breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: on Don Khong island

After breakfast, we'll head to the little village of Ban Khiet Ngong. Trek alongside your elephant through paddy fields and wetlands, you will be led inside the jungle that surrounds the area by your mahout and guide. This activity is now an important source of income for the villagers and it helps them to avoid selling the elephants and discourage wildlife hunting.

In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to the tranquil 4000 Islands region, where the mighty Mekong River splits into multiple channels and creates a serene oasis. We will take a boat ride to Don Khong Island, one of the largest islands in the area, and explore its natural beauty and charming villages. Overnight stay will be on Don Khong Island.

 

Day 4 Si Pa Don or the 4000 islands

Meal: breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: on Don Khong island

Today, we will embark on a memorable boat excursion to Si Pan Don, also known as the "Four Thousand Islands." Here, we will have the opportunity to witness the playful Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins in their natural habitat. Observe these rare and gentle creatures as they swim and frolic in the tranquil waters of the Mekong River. We’ll also view the old locomotive and a railway and colonial bridge built by the French in order to avoid navigating the rapids and waterfalls in this section of the Mekong. 

Late in the afternoon, we will return to Don Khong Island for a relaxing evening and overnight stay.

 

Day 5 Khon Phapheng waterfall - Pakse departure

Meal: breakfast | Accommodation: not included

On the final day of our tour, we will visit the impressive Khon Phapheng waterfall, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia. Be captivated by the sheer power and beauty of this cascading waterfall as it roars down the rocks. After enjoying this natural marvel, we will return to Pakse, where you will be transferred to the airport or your onward destination, marking the end of our unforgettable journey through Southern Laos.
