Day 1 Luang Prabang arrival

Upon your arrival in Luang Prabang, you will be greeted by our friendly guide and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to settle in and relax, or explore the nearby area at your own pace. Day 2 Luang Prabang city treasures

We will kick off the day by immersing ourselves in the local culture at the vibrant Morning Market. Afterward, we'll explore the exquisite Wat Mai temple, known for its stunning architecture and intricate details. Next, we'll take a step back in time as we visit the Former King's Palace, a majestic testament to Laos' royal history. Our morning adventure concludes with a visit to the iconic Wat Xieng Thong, a masterpiece of Lao temple architecture. 

After a delicious local lunch, we have two fantastic options for you to choose from. For those interested in the history of the region, the UXO Visitor's Centre provides a poignant insight into the legacy of unexploded ordnance in Laos. Alternatively, if you prefer to immerse yourself in the world of textiles and crafts, Ock Pop Tok offers a unique experience. Our next stop is Wat Visoun, the oldest operating temple in Luang Prabang, boasting a fascinating blend of architectural styles. Finally, we'll wrap up our day at the Traditional Art and Ethnology Centre, where we'll learn about the diverse ethnic groups of Laos and their rich cultural heritage.

Day 3 Kuang Si waterfall and Pak Ou caves

For early risers, there is a very special dawn visit to watch the monks collecting alms. As the sun begins to rise, long lines of orange-robed monks leave their pagodas and walk barefoot down the streets collecting offerings from Luang Prabang residents.

After breakfast, we venture outside of Luang Prabang to visit the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfall. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the well-maintained trails and take a refreshing dip in the inviting natural pools or simply unwind amidst nature's beauty. There’s also an opportunity to visit the nearby Bear Sanctuary, where you can observe and learn about the conservation efforts dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating endangered Asiatic black bears. Witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges they face and the importance of preserving their species.

In the afternoon, embark on a scenic boat cruise along the Mekong River to the renowned Pak Ou Caves. Discover these ancient limestone caves that house thousands of Buddhist statues, offering a glimpse into the spiritual beliefs and traditions of Laos. Admire the intricately carved sculptures and absorb the spiritual ambiance as you explore the dimly lit chambers.

Day 4 Luang Prabang train to Vientiane

Bid farewell to Luang Prabang as you embark on a memorable train journey to the capital city of Vientiane. Relax and take in the stunning landscapes as the train winds its way through the scenic countryside. Upon arrival in Vientiane, you will be transferred to your hotel to rest and rejuvenate.

Day 5 Vientiane city tour

Discover the highlights of Vientiane on a guided city tour. We’d start with the serene Wat Sisaket, one of the most beautiful temples in the capital, before continuing on to the nearby Wat Phra Keo. Acting as a religious museum, the site displays a unique collection of both Lao and Khmer works of art. Also nearby is the Presidential Palace. Though it can only be viewed from the outside, the stunning building offers some excellent insight into the colonial history of Vientiane.

Next, make a stop at Wat Simuang. The most popular and venerated temple in Vientiane, it is considered to be the guardian of the spirit of the city. Following the temple visit, head to COPE, an association working to help landmine victims. A visit to the center provides in-depth information about the history of the American/Vietnam War, the lasting impact of unexploded ordinances (UXO) in the area, and the efforts underway to clear them.

In the afternoon, continue to the Patuxay monument. Laos’ version of the Arc de Triomphe, it is possible to climb the stairs of the monument where breathtaking views over the city await. The tour wraps up at That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. Constructed by King Setthethirat in the 16th century, the temple is one of the city’s most iconic with its towering golden spire.

 

 

Day 6 Vientiane departure

Time will be on your own until our driver arrives to take you to Vientiane airport, at a good time for boarding your departure flight. End of our services.
