The Nuoi Em project is a voluntary project aiming to support children in the remote mountainous regions of Vietnam. Founded by a former staff of Handspan Travel Indochina, the project has received backing from Handspan since its establishment. Let’s find out more details about the project with Handspan Travel Indochina!

Through this post, you will find these pieces of information below.

General information about the Nuoi Em project

The “Nuoi Em” (Raising Children) project was founded in 2014 by Mr. Hoang Hoa Trung. He is a volunteer who would like to spend his whole life volunteering and helping children in the remote mountainous regions of Vietnam. This project is extremely trusted and loved by the community. Through the project, each person can adopt lunch for at least one child in the highland area.

The idea for this project came when Mr. Hoang Hoa Trung realized that children in the highlands skip school in the afternoon because they have nothing for lunch. Then he and his voluntary groups decided to launch the Nuoi Em project. The project offers free meals so that children in the mountainous regions can stay in class. Beyond a meal, Mr. Hoang Hoa Trung intends to develop a sustainable community. With just VND 150,000 each month, a sponsor can feed a child in the highlands. The children's full name, age, and photo information will be sent to the sponsor. It is the connection between people and people that builds trust for the sponsors and encourages them to share the project with others.

Until now, the project has reached 20 provinces and cities. They are Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Dak Lak, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, etc., with more than 100,000 children being adopted. There have been 12 provinces replicating the project themselves. According to Mr. Trung, the localities can apply the model of the project on their own to help children in difficult circumstances.

The impact of the Nuoi Em project on local communities

The Nuoi Em project has made a profound impact on local communities, especially in rural regions where there is a shortage of basic amenities including nutritious food and educational facilities. By providing daily lunches to underprivileged children, the project has fostered several benefits for both individual children and the broader community. Let’s see the significance of the Nuoi Em project with Handspan Travel Indochina!

Enhancing education opportunities and reducing poverty cycles

The Nuoi Em project is a meaningful project that contributes to reducing school dropouts in the highland areas. By ensuring that children receive a proper lunch during school hours, the project creates opportunities for children to eat well and focus on learning to improve their knowledge. Students in the mountainous regions of Vietnam will no longer need to leave school early due to hunger, thanks to the lunch with nutrients. By that, children will be able to stay at school to attend lessons in the afternoon. When children complete their education, they are more likely to secure higher-paying jobs. The project's focus on education thereby empowers children to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Improving nutrition and health

More than just filling children’s stomachs, balanced meals help to improve children’s overall health significantly. Malnutrition is reduced, leading to fewer illnesses and improved cognitive function.

Strengthening social connections

The Nuoi Em project’s positive impact on children, families, and the community fosters stronger social bonds in several ways. It builds up the connections between sponsors and the children they support. This cherishes empathy, understanding, and a sense of shared humanity, strengthening the social fabric of the community. Besides, the project also creates a chance for sponsors, volunteers, and community members to work together to reach a common goal of supporting children's well-being. In addition, collaboration among various stakeholders like government agencies, NGOs, and local communities is also fostered.

Overall, the Nuoi Em project is far beyond feeding children in the mountainous region of Vietnam. By focusing on the comprehensive well-being of children and their communities, the project indeed contributes to making positive changes in the community.

Handspan’s “Nuoi Em” journey

Handspan has accompanied the Nuoi Em project since the first days of its inception. Our commitment to the project is a testament to our dedication to sustainable development and social responsibility. In the present year, we have deducted a portion of the profits to support the project to feed eight children. This contribution reflects Handspan's ongoing commitment to the well-being and development of underprivileged children through its partnership with the Nuoi Em project. Beyond tourism, we would like to foster sustainable development in Vietnam as we always aim to.

Traveling with Handspan holds a deeper significance. It means that you are actively contributing to the well-being and future of the communities you are visiting. Our support for the Nuoi Em project demonstrates how tourism can be a force for positive change, empowering local initiatives and creating lasting benefits for those in need. In conclusion, accompanying the Nuoi Em project further affirms Handspan’s main goal and commitment since our beginnings: sustainability.
