A former French hill station set at a cool 5000 feet, Sapa has been well-known for its superlative natural landscape and diverse concentration of tribal people. But don’t be misled, though! Sapa and its nearby villages are far from pristine. The town is lively with full of street vendors, open-air eateries, and a mix of tourists and ethnic peoples from many regions. If you’re looking for authenticity, you’ll need to travel well away from the crowd, may be ready for some arduous - over rough tracks or take an exciting drive to one of the ethnic markets weekly frequented by minority people.
